Question about bulkheads

Hi Everyone
We are new to this forum. We have a Catalina 30 and sail the western basin of Lake Erie. We love our boat and the waters in which we sail. However, as we approach retirement age we are considering a Catalina 36 as a live a board. The eventual goal will be the ICW with the final destination of the Bahamas. We are currently looking at a beautiful 1989 MK1. Lightly sailed with 280 original hours on the engine. During a walk through, I tried to shut the door from the V berth to the salon. The door was off by 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the jamb. Is this normal? Or does it portend something else, like severe hull twist? I can't afford to buy over. Of course, we will have a survey. What else can you share about this vintage and our plan with such a vessel?
Thanks
Jeff

Hello Jeff.
We came out of Lake Mi 5 years ago with our 1990 36. Now sail the Bahamas in the winter months. The boat your looking at I am not sure if it is in the water or out. But when ours is out our hull does flex some and the cabin four will be off. But once back in the water all is fine. 36's do flex but still a good boat. It had served us well for the 1000's of milyes ar have on ours.
