Propane Vent doesn't vent

New owner here. My boat was not especially clean when I bought her, so I got to work. The previous owner may have been growing potatoes under the propane tank, judging from the amount of dirt there. I took my hose and tried to wash some of it out, thinking the locker would drain. Well, it didn't. No water drained out of the locker after a couple of minutes. I figure no propane would drain out either. Anyone else have this issue? Of course the locker is screwed and caulked in place, getting it out is proving to be quite a challenge. Anyone else have experience here?

Welcome gtoconnor.

It will be easier for us to help you if we know what year boat you have. The best way to do that is modify your signature with the control panel to give us more info (see mine below). It's also nice to have a name to work with, that's your call.

Have you tried running a snake through the vent? Just be careful that you don't force it around a sharp turn as you will have major difficulties getting it back out. Also, another thing that works great on blocked hoses - maybe not in this case - is to take one end loose, insert it in your air horn and give it a blast or two. I've unblocked all sorts of lines like that - most recently the raw water outlet line.

You can also consider using a toilet bowl plunger.
