Pleated shades

Has anyone had any luck cleaning the pleated shades which were original equipment on some 36's. Alternatively, has anyone had a disaster while trying. Mine are not too bad but could use a little TLC. I will vacuum/ brush them on both sides but wonder if there is any other magic short of purchasing new ones.

Hi Neil, we cleaned our pleated shades in the bathtub using a mild detergent (Ivory laundry soap), cool water and a soft brush. We let them soak in the water for a bit before a gentle scrubbing with the brush. Rinse well then dry by laying them on a towel. They turned out very well. We replaced the velcro at the same time as it had gotten quite yellow. They looked like they hadn't ever been cleaned so it made quite a difference. Good luck!

We've been looking for a source of the velcro strips and the round hard backed velcro "dots", does anyone know of a supplier or must we custom make?
Thanks,
Tony

We cleaned ours this week (to remove the mould).
Washed them in a soapy mix, with some bleach.
Worked well, now just have to spray them with the oil of cloves.

Try good 'ol Amazon.com -- likely cheaper than uline.

Those are just two options; there are tons more in many different sizes / quantities. Search either "velcro dot" or "velcro roll." The adhesive on the "official" Velcro brand is pretty good, but I often use a bead of stronger adhesive spread around to back it up.
