I just bought a 1984 Catalina 36. We moved the boat from NC to Knoxville TN. I look forward to spending time on it with my wife and girls (age 6 and 14). Will mostly be used as a weekend hangout at our sailing club. Spend the night on the boat and sail hobies and dinghies all day.

The 36 does make a great RV, but after you sail it a while, it'll be tough to go back to those hobies.:D

Im about to close on a Catalina 36. Been heart broken since my Cheoy Lee 35 got broken loose and slammed up on a seawall from Hurricane Sandy. I used to be an aware and knowledgable guy from DIY projects, and now have to learn about Catalina's. Cheoy Lee had a website where I learned and contiributed much, (they are probably wondering where I sailed off to as I stopped so abruptly). Give me time to figure out the boat, starting with where the pointy end is, and I hope to be of some value to the group.
I'll be in Oyster Bay, NY in the spring

Welcome to both.
You'll find a wealth of information and a great group here.
Joining the association is well worth the cost.

Looks like Catalina 36's are in demand this winter. We are about to close on a 2001 Tall rig, fin keel with the longer elliptical rudder here in NH. We will be racing it on Tuesday nights in the PHRF cruising fleet. The last boat was a J28 (3 years) and the one before that a Colgate 26 (7 years). It will be interesting and comfortable adjusting to the Catalina. We haven't sailed with a masthead rig before, it might take us some time to learn and we will probably be asking some questions. We are looking forward to the Spring.

Barefoot Children,
Welcome to the wonderful world of C36! You will LOVE the boat. It does everything well. Please take a moment to do an auto "signature", so that we know a little more about you and your boat. Use some of the other signatures as guidance. Help us help you. Click on the UserCP link in the upper left corner of this page.
