Had the mast down so I replaced the mast boot with the kind that slips over the foot of the mast before it went back up.
It seems like a simple operation with new clamps to go around the top of the boot and one to go around the bottom.
My problem is that the bottom part of the boot slips off the mast base even though the clamp seems tight when I first clamp it down.
Any suggestions? I'm thinking that maybe heating the rubber a bit with a heat gun before I tighten. I put in a lot of sealant so water isn't coming in but the space between the mast and the side of the hole in the deck is exposed.

Is it possible that the boot is stretched. Loosen the upper strap and slide down, then reset the lower strap, then push down the upper strap more and tighten.
