Intrduction & ? @ Lewmar Fwd Trapezoidal

Greetings, I am the proud new owner of a 1993 C36, hull #1259, now sailing out of Newport Beach, CA. It was listed as a 1992, but the hull ID ends with L293, which means she was built in Dec. of 1993, right? I guess the boat has a bit of fame under her belt as she is listed (under "Our Journey") on the Catalina "Wall of Fame". Apparently the previous-previous ownwers (Boris and Judy Dobrotin) sailed her all the way to French Polynesia, then on up to Alaska, and I even found a picture of the boat passing through the Erie Canal. As for me, I will be confining myself to Catalina and the Channel Islands for the time being, but I must admit the Dobrotins have got me thinking bigger!

At any rate, here goes my question. I pulled out my leaking forward Lewmar trapezoidal, and the brittle inside liner (that covers the exposed deck material around the hole) broke in half as soon as I unscrewed it. I have been looking around for a new liner, no luck so far. Any suggestion on how to track one down?

All the best, and Happy New Year!

Joel:

Welcome to the C36 forum and C36 ownership. If you haven't already done so, you should join the IC36A as there is a lot of good info on this web site accessible only to members, not to mention the camaraderie and vast knowledge base of owners to draw from. Actually your boat was built in December (L) 1992 (2) and is a 1993 (93) model (L293).

For the trim, you may want to try Catalina Direct. Here is a link to the type of trim you are after: [url]http://www.catalinadirect.com/index.cfm/product/186_380/vinyl-trim---com... You should give them a call to ensure it is what you need. Take care and good luck

Hi Tom and Janice,

Many thanks for your timely and helpful reply. Will be ordering the trim as soon as I finish this.

PS if "IC36A" is this association, I became a full member a couple of weeks ago. Indeed, someone just emailed to let me know that the CD has been delayed because they are putting more stuff on it, which is a-ok by me :o)

Joel

That means you are indeed a member of the C36IA (a little dyslexia on my part), welcome aboard!

Joel,
Welcome to the association (C36/375IA to be exact!!), and welcome to the Forums! To help us help you, you might want to take a moment and add an automatic "signature" to your posts. You can do so easily by clicking on the User CP link in the upper left corner of this page. Look at several other member's signatures in different posts to get an idea of what might/should be included.

PS-You will LOVE the boat!!!!

I have the same issue with the trim around the v-berth hatch on our 1999 Mk II. It was removed by the PO. As I tried to dry fit it to re-install, it started to crack. I could use the trim selected from Catalina Direct, but then it would not hold the nice screen (in aluminum frame) that the OEM trim holds.

Any sources of the original trim or ideas to replace it and still be able to have a screen?

Many thanks in advance! :)

For your info, I found the exact Lewmar OEM trim for the trapezoidal hatch (Low Profile 65, BTW!) at Maui Pro Sailing!
