Intermittent Autopilot failure

Glorious team of salty sailors
After months of testing and work my autopilot is still inoperable.
Raytheon ST5000+ with Type 1 linear drive.
Have had the head unit bench tested, the drive bench tested as well as the clutch, the wiring between the head and the tested.
Every time I put it apart and put it back together it will work for about an hour and then i will receive a drivestop error.
some days it might come on for 20-30 mins and fail other days it wont even work.
has anyone had a similar issue / have any ideas what could be causing it.
I'm just about ready to go spend 10% of my boats value on a new autopilot......

As always thank you in advance

Hi,
Just a thought, are the batteries in good shape? I had similar issue in the past, and AP stops working after a while, batteries worn.

Check the wiring to the linear drive.  Often it is under sized and you'll get too much voltage drop.  I think mine is 10awg
