I purchased my 36 in Florida where i rescued it from a serious lack of attention(shipped it to the NW).The Florida heat and humidity has yellowed the cabin interior gelcoat badly.Sanding removes it but since the surface is "mottled" ie,not smooth, this does not remove all of it.Anyone have any suggestions?I have tried a little muriatic acid, and nothing...

This weekend I used FSR a blue cleaner in a jar on some stained decking it worked well there you might want to try it as it appeared to bleach where I was using it. caution you might want some facial protection because you are using it overhead.

That's a great idea. Since FSR is a gell, I used to think the gel itself had to sit on the area to be cleaned. Over the years, I began to use it for more and more purposes: cleaning up bolt stains below the stanchions and the very best use is for removing the "mustache" that grows on the bow if your wax has worn off and you're sailing on polluted rivers (like we do here!).
The beauty is that FSR does NOT require any elbow grease. It's like a bleach. Leave it on, wait a few minutes, then rinse it off.
What I learned was that the gell doesn't need to be applied directly to work, you can soak a thick sponge with it and use it to wipe areas down.
The trick is to make sure you wipe it ALL off when its setting point is done, so you'll probably want to do small areas at a time to allow for a quality, complete cleanup.
We've been using FSR for over 25 years. Great stuff. You could check the contents and most likely obtain most of the potent ingredients in a hardware store for less, but the smaller tub of it is still only $11.

Yes, and you can get it from West Marine.

I agree that FSR is pretty amazing stuff. In addtions to the uses that Stu desciribes, I've used it to remove red wine stains from the gel coat (like when a friend dumped a glass on the side of the boat--ouch) and exhaust stains on the transom.
Another great product, which I learned about on this forum, is called "Roll Off." It is great for cleaning vinyl and things like white-coated lifelines and fenders, and even rust stains.
It also is available at West Marine.

Roll Off has always been my first choice and I have had FSR on this boat since I acquired it 7 years ago but never used it until last weekend to clean a larger area. Totally impressed and will use it to clean the boat at launch time in the future.
