My starboard bulkhead is wet and the top and nbottom ( very punky at the bottom)
This is directly in line above and below the main shroud chainplate that is bolted on to the bulkhead.
I think that this must be coming in the deck chainplate.
I hope that my 98 MK 2 has the solid resin pouired in that area.
I may have to replace the bulkhead. Hope not.
Any advice on this one?
thanks
Rich

Rich-
My 2 cents.
Regarding the bulkhead, the biggest thing is structure to anchor the chainplate. I would remove the chainplate and poke around to see how extensive the rot is. It looks localized from your pictures. If so, maybe you could fix the bulkhead with a nice looking cosmetic band aid- a 1-2 inch wide x 1/8"-1/4" ash or oak trim piece with matched stain/varnish mounted to the top of the bulkhead bending it to the curve of headliner. Drill holes aligned with the bulkead screw heads so you could access these in the future if needed. Do something similar at the bottom of the bulkhead. You may also have to sand some of the bulkhead and match with stain/varnish.
To your point, hopefully the deck is solid resin and has no compromised core.

Thanks.
I re bedded the chain plate yesterday, I hope that at least stops it from getting worse!
