I hate to have to ask the same questions that have probably been asked a thousand times before but the "search this forum" function at the top tight of each forum home page doesn't seem to work for me. Evert time I try to use it I get an error message back telling me that the first word I typed does not constitute the minimum 4 words needed to search. I get this message no matter how many word I type into the field. Is this some kind of user error or does this search feature just not work?:(

Lori Lee,
I just tried several searches, and they all came up with many hits. Are you doing a Forum Search, or a Thread Search?

I have had some luck but the search engine seemd very finiky about what you type in. Try typing "V berth sheets and bedding"

so I think I figured it out. You cannot use any word in your search that is less than 4 letters. Can anyone confirm???

That appears to be the case. I just tried searching on eng, engi, engin and engine. It seems that the search searches for exactly the term you enter. It won't find engine if all you enter is engin. As with many aspects of the computer world, it can be very powerful but it is sometimes frustratingly exact.

I vaguely remember the term Boolean equations from a logic class in high school??? There are certain characters you can put in the search field that will enable you to search for less than 4 letters. I just tried a search for
"v*berth"
including the quotes and asterisk, and got a bunch of hits. The asterisk is I think a wild card, letting the search look for anything in its place, ie a space, a hyphen, or a letter. Sorry I can't remember more, but I know there are more characters that mean more things. Larry, the same thing goes for eng. eng won't work, but eng* works fine.

Great post, Tom!
I played with the asterisk wildcard and it works well. I got too many hits in my trials until I went to the advanced search and selected titles only.
