Im sorry to say that "Drake Equation" my C36 MKII has been traded in on a 2004 C400. My wife looked at a c400 on a walk at the marina and liked the aft cabin so much she made the deal on the spot that day........it's the first boat she said she MUST HAVE!!
I love the C36 and logged 900nm on her last summer. Thank you c36 NA folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a similar reaction with my wife, although not so dramatic. The aft cabin certainly has the WOW! factor. Good luck with the new boat! Unfortunately, the C400IA could use some the expertise and enthusiasm that the C36IA has!

A buddy of mine who lives on the same canal as me has a sailboat (not a Catalina) that he named "Great Mistake." He said he was at a boat show and his wife also liked the layout of the sleeping quarters so he bought the boat. Then they were looking for a name for their brand new sailboat when he read in a book about buying boats that its a "Great Mistake" to buy a boat soley for it's interior. So that's what they named their sailboat, "Great Mistake" They have been enjoying that boat for over ten years now just as I am sure you will enjoy your C40. Congratulations.

I agree with that book your friend read. But....when you know two very good sailors who own C400's, and they both race their boats, and they both do very well around the buoys, and you know what goes into a Catalina from years of ownership......the interior becomes the icing on the cake for me, and a major selling point for the Admiral!!

What's the difference between the C400 and the C40, the C470 and the C47?

There is no such thing as a C40 or C47. About ?10? years ago CY went to a three digit numbering system for new models. 250, 309, 320, 350, 375, 387, 400, 440, 445, and 470. Besides the smaller boats (<25'), I believe the only double digit boats still in production are the 28 and the 42. Hope this helps.
