Last Fall I had a Cormorant take up roosting on my mast head between the vane and Windex. Then the deposits on the front deck started. Tried to chase it off but it kept coming back every evening to perch. Then, to top it all off, I found my Garmin wind Vane laying on the dock one morning. Not Happy - and looking for some ideas to keep that from happening.
I'm looking at bird spikes and small C4 devices now - what ever it takes!

I had a similar problem that I solved by gluing a couple of aluminum roofing nails to my mast head with 5200.

Ron - thanks for the idea. I have a lot of old galvanized roofing nails around and that seems like an easy / inexpensive solution. I did a little searching around too and found a guy that had attached a Bird Kite to a pole and he ran it up the halyard when at the dock. Not sure I like the kite idea with the equipment I have up there but I think something similar along with the nails might do the trick.
