Dear community,
We have a catalina 36 from 94 with a tall rig and a furling main sail.
Unfortunately due to a big refit our mast is located somwhere else and a boatyard is about to make a new Bimini, whole tent for us. We do have a hard dodger though.
We are desperately discussion the possible height of the whole thing since we don't have the boom on the mast for its possible height.
We do know the height of the gooseneck, but assume that the boom will not essentially be in a 90 degree angle to the mast and can be more.
Can you help us what the minimum height is between the bottom of the boom an the cockpit at the very end of the boom?
here is a picture of the current status for better understanding.
Our boat is on the hard with mast removed so I cant measure. If I were to guess; ~ 6' 7". We have a standard rig and the boom is a good 6"-7" over my head and I'm 6 feet. (At least I used to be)

I know our C25 tall rig has a taller mast AND a lower boom compared to a standard rig. Therefore, I would get a measurement from an actual tall rig just in case it's the same with a C36.

Yes I think the same, the boom height can vary between the different styles.
maybe someone knows that he or she can or cannot stand under their boom while sailing?

I measured the height from the cockpit floor to the end of our boom to be 7 feet. (2002 MKII Tall Rig, Roller furling)
We can stand in the cockpit, no problem, when sailing.
