Pics from 2 months in San Juans (now selling the boat!!)

Ha! The title is a little misleading - we aren't selling the boat because of the time in the San Juans - we had been planning on selling her all along, really a transition boat between our Hans Christian and a bigger bluewater boat.

Anyway - I figured I'd share some shots of our two-month cruise around the San Juans aboard Manonash, our 1996 C36 mkII.

It was a great time. 80% of the time, it was just my wife and me (and two dogs), but we had 6 adults one week, and 4 adults another week, and nobody killed one another...

Highlights:
We LOVE Patos Island - just beautiful and semi-remote
Crossing the Strait of Juan de Fuca in 40kts (seas were pretty calm, boat did great when caught in a snort for about 90 minutes...)
Baby Seal Rescue: There was an abandoned little pup (umbilical still attached) that we helped some naturalists rescue.
Solar Power: We got our solar up and running, pushing about 7.5 amps, and LOVE it!
Decent speed! I've got to say, I was surprised to see 8+kts on a number of passages!
Comfort: I've owned a lot of boats, and I'm still convinced that the C36 is the best comfort/value that money can buy.
Iverson Dodger/Bimini: I've got enough skin cancer spots, that I've got to say - I'm not sure what I'd do without a bimini all day...

Anyway - I thought you might enjoy some shots....

Sweet, TFPU.

good luck in your next adventure.

how were you able to post the larger photos? I can only get thumbnails to post. I get a message that my picture is too big.

Nice pics!
What bluewater boat do you have in mind?
My broker just listed a GORGEOUS Baba Ta Shing 40 footer here in Maryland.

Tomfoolery - it's a baby seal... just a few days old (still had an umbilical cord). It just hung out in the kelp there to try and stay out of the current. Here's another pic of it trying to nurse on our hull... (A rescue/rehab group came and picked her up as we were leaving)

Blair - I just link to the images that are posted on Facebook. Here's one from an electrical storm that we (and the whole PacNW) was caught in last month...[IMG]https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/s720x720/483330_101509459518...

Laura - Thanks! We actually had a Tashing 40 before and LOVED it as a bluewater boat. There is one for sale in our marina, actually. They are a fantastic couple's boat - the biggest feeling 40-footer I've ever seen. (And, she sails pretty well, too!) We are still a bit up in arms at the moment, most likely having a custom Outbound 46 built for our specific needs, but possibly a Nauticat 515 if the Euro continues to decline enough to make it worthwhile.

BTW - Here's proof that you can have six adults aboard this boat for a week and everybody is still smiling (except the hidden cameraman who was ready to jump ship...)[IMG]https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/181182_10150991095874053_169...

If you guys are interested in any more shots, there are a ton here:

Steve. We're planning a lengthy trip to the North Channel in 2013 and would love to hear some details on your Solar system. In particular - how did you mount the panels to the bimini and what panels and charge controller do you use? Thanks in advance! Good luck on your new boat!

Blair, you have to "resize" your photos to fit the size limit for most forums.
