On this forum we all own our boats and cruise locally, but for those that are considering chartering in the Med(Croatia,Italy,Greece,Spain) things have changed.Police and Coast Guards of these countries have been fineing people that dont have the "International Certificate of Competency" or the ICC.Charter companies in Croatia are not accepting power squad,ASA,CYA or RYA(tho RYA is doing the ICC now).Just advised of a group of 4 with good Power Squad certs that were refused for charter in Croatia when they showed up there...they were very angry, and rightly so.A real contrast from the "Credit Card Captains" in BVI etc..Anyway,the IYT schools in the US and Canada are certified to issue the ICC(equivalant to Bareboat Skipper,Coastal Nav and vhf radio in content).Police in the Med are motivated to fine as a cash revenue source to fund their salaries.Does anyone have recent stories about this?i have it direct from IYT.cheers

Come to Australia, there are no licenses for charterers. You don't even need a VHF radio license.
And with the strong Australian dollar - now is a great time.
If any C36/375 association members want a special deal, let me know and I can help out.
