Anchoring out off of Three Rooker or Anclote Key is really nice if the winds are right. Caladesi Island is really nice but the bugs are still VERY active.
The Seafood Shack just north east of the Cortez bridge is a nice stop.
I would also strongly suggest "The Club" in Treasure Island as a very nice stop for the Mrs. Really first class and very nice folks. 2nd night is free.
