refrigerator replacement options on Catalina 36 MK 2

just wondering if anybody has ever replaced their factory 12 V fridge with another built-in option either where the trash can is or under the chart table?
thanks, Rich

Before I replaced my built in fridge with a novakool unit, which I loved, I had a portable 12V fridge freezer unit on the small settee on the starboard side.  I put the table down and put it on there and strapped it in.  It worked well and I plugged it into the power port on the switch panel.  They can be had for about $350 or so from amazon, and mine had both a fridge and freezer compartment.  The bonus was that when my fridge at my house went out, I was also able to use it to keep food for the 2 months it took samsung to replace it under warranty.

That said, I think I would replace the factory cooler fridge with a new unit rather than try to relocate one to another location.  The novakool was precharged and a self install unit.  Took me about 3 hours to install, and it works great.  I put a wooden barrier across the compartment and now one side freezes and the other stays about 40-45 degrees.

Rich, assuming you have an Adler Barbour, the new model is basically a plug and play replacement, including the little freezer compartment.  Easy for an experienced serviceman but I know of boaters who did it themselves.
