Catalina Yachts

So does the company still exist?  If not what does that mean for us?

My opinion is the magic of Catalina Yachts was in the boat design. Most of the parts are off the shelves of other manufacturers which kept prices down and allowed for quality assurance. Engines, masts, hardware, pumps and parts are still available although some may require detective work.
Catalina Yachts parts department was pretty much one overworked guy for the last several years. Sailboatowners.com bought all the old parts a few years ago (good news) and they will try to find whatever you may need.
Catalina Direct is the place to call when you need some odd bit "now now". Their added value is wealth of knowledge about years and models of Catalina boats.
This site and the Catalina 34 website are good resources for almost any Catalina issue one can imagine.
Sad to see the company getting gnawed to extinction by vulture capitalists and lawyers, but the boats the company produced will float and sail for many more decades with reasonable maintenance and proper care.
We all used to own "production boats", now we got "classics".
