AIS/C36 measurements?

Hi all,

Brand new owner of a 2003 C36..  just closed last week and she's about 4 hours away which is why I'm posting this question rather than just measuring myself!

I'm ordering an AIS transponder which needs to be programmed prior to shipping.   They require distance (ft) from mast to bow, mast to stern and mast to port/starboard rails.

I figured someone here might have gone through this and have the measurements handy.   Anyone?

Thanks in advance,

Brad

Congratulations on the new boat! The form I filled out needed distances from bow, stern, port side and starboard side to the GPS antenna used with the AIS transponder.
My AIS is above the electric panel. The small GPS antenna is on top of the shelf  on the starboard side, just aft  and above of the fixed port in the hull. I kept my antenna close to the unit for easier wiring, it works fine through the fiberglass deck.
Depending on where you mount the antenna your numbers will be different.

That makes sense. I plan to use my vhf antenna so the store is asking for distances to mast... not sure if that is correct method.

And thanks for the congrats-  we are thrilled though have a long list of projects to start on!

Attached is the form I used, it asks for the relative location of the GPS antenna attached to the transponder, not the VHF antenna.

Right- exactly.   The transponder I’m getting uses the same common antenna as the VHF.   So that’s why I’m just using distances to mast.
