Howdy All!
My wife and I recently picked up a 1987 Catalina 36 named "Shadow".
We are berthed in Foss Harbor, Tacoma, WA. The boat came up from Longbeach, CA, where she was lovingly cared for by a single owner since new. Her maintenance has been impeccable. When stepping aboard her you may feel as if you were transported back in time to when she came out of the factory. She is nearly bone stock!
We have owned several sailboats over the years, and a powerboat that we lived on for about 4 years. Our last boat was a race boat, but with a small child and more planned, we wanted to get a family-friendly boat. From the start of our search, the Catalina 36 was top on our list. Shadow is an ideal boat for us and we are looking forward to many years of great cruising aboard her.
I would love to meet up with other members as we cruise about Puget Sound!
You can see several photos of Shadow on my personal blog at https://ben.lobaugh.net/blog/205339/introducing-shadow-our-new-catalina-36-sailboat . I will be setting up a site for the boat at some point as well!
Here is a snapshot of her in the Tacoma Yacht Club marina where we picked her up at.
And since people have been oogling her original cushions....

Welcome aboard. You'll find a wealth of ideas and help here -- a strong users' group was one of the selling points for us when we bought our Mk1 11 years ago now.

welcome to the Catalina world. I'm another Puget Sound sailor, Everett in the winter Anacortes in the summer and we have interesting name boats, mine is Shadowfax. And mine is a 1987 and I am the original owner and brought it up from Long Beach when I moved to Washington (trucked).

Oh wow! When did you move Shadowfax up? Lots of boats down there, did you happen to run across my Shadow ever? We should get the boats together for a reunion. hehe

Definitely!
Shadow was almost berthed in Elliott Bay Marina. Went to Tacoma instead due to price. About the same timewise from our house. I had a sailboat in EBM for about 5 years previously though. Love that marina!
