Greetings all,
I just completed the purchase of ENCORE (#1245). I'm in Virginia Beach and will be cruising the Chesapeake as much as I can. Looking forward to interacting with the group and learning more about my new (to me) boat.
Thanks,
Jay

Jay,
Welcome aboard !
The group here has been most helpful and one of the reasons I bought a Catalina 36. There is a great deal of info in the tech section.
I see that you listed that you have an M-35 engine. Is that a standard M-35 or an A or B model ? Sometimes that helps when answering questions.

Hi Bill and thank you for the greating. I'm not sure which it is, I'll look when I go out to the boat again today. Do you know how would I be able to tell the difference?

Welcome Jay. Are you sure about your hull number / model year? Mine is a 1993 MK1.5, hull number 1238. If yours is hull 1245, your model year should be 1993 or 1994 I would think.

Hi Don, Well it must be like cars then. The original delivery documentation was from OCT 92 and the CG Cert of Doc says year completed 1992, but I have other paperwork that says 1993, and the registration number ends in 93. So I guess the 1993 models were built and released starting in 1992? I know for sure that it is hull #1245.

Re: the M35 original vs. A or B, after searching for manuals online and downloading the one for the B and looking at my engine, I realized it was NOT a B. I then downloaded another manual that indicated it was for the M35 A. Also did not look like our engine. I finally found a manual with NO A or B designation that is identical to ours, so it seems to me that there might have been a change between the Kubota engine blocks between '91 (no designation) and '92 or '93 that saw the A designation added? Or I'm just confused...a strong possiblity...

Thanks Bill!
After doing some work on the raw water side i noticed the engine info plate, it had fallen off and gotten wedged in. It says M35AC. Mystery solved!
