Foward speaker/PA

I'd like to add a speaker up front so my passengers can listen to music up there.

I think a PA speaker on the mast would be the only way to mount something that's not gonna leak or be in the way.

Has anyone had a similar problem and found a different solution?

Any brand suggestions for a PA that will also Play music.

PA, or public address, speaker is made for non-music application. That means it's band width is limited to voice application. Since you will be installing it up high on the mast it will work just fine. It should be UV protected plastic. Due to its distance from the radio and 8 ohms impedance, I suspect it's loudness will be effected.
You will need a stepup transformer at the amp and a step down transformer at the horn. This is how PA is installed in airports and commercial buildings. It is my speciality.
