Just discovered a corner of my aqua lift has had a smallish blowout. Fumes and water leaking. Currently have it removed and considering options. If replace rather than repair can I use another brand and type? Others such as vetus are much cheaper.
If repaired I have seen several threads discussing this and it looks quite doable but would welcome hearing opinions. Thanks in advance...

We replaced our muffler a few years ago. We contacted Catalina Yachts and had a new one fabricated. It took a couple of weeks and cost about $250+. An exact fit.

It's an easy repair.

Seems to be pretty straight forward. Just wondering about heat resistence of fiberglass? Should I be concerned about internal muffler temps? Some sort of heat shield prior to glassing?

The muffler is all fiberglass already so heat isn't a problem. I'd use an epoxy resin for better adhesion.

Got it glassed up yesterday. Some testing for leaks and paint today and then reinstall. Installation will involve the unenviable job of cleaning the engine area completely as the PO must have run the engine for a fair number of hours not realizing that it was leaking exhaust and water. Also want to reinstall using hump hose this time instead of straight exhaust hose.

Looks like a great repair!! Silicone hump hoses are the way to go.
