IMPORTANT: ELECTION FOR NEW COMMODORE SOON

NOMINEE and CALL for ELECTION for the position of COMMODORE of the C36/375 International Association - Sept 17, 2019 ----

Dear Membership:

I am pleased to announce the Association has an excellent candidate for the position of Commodore : Active Member and current MKII tech editor, Leslie Troyer! Please look for a special ELECTION VOTE email subject heading later this week. Please see below, information about our nominee/candidate.

As most of you may be aware, it is challenging these days to find people willing and able to volunteer their time and energy. Thankfully, one of our most involved and qualified members has stepped up: Leslie Troyer.

Our search and postings to find candidates resulted in our nomination of Leslie and his nomination is thus far uncontested. It does not appear we will have any other nominees. Therefore, I am posting at our Association website, his official candidacy, effective immediately, with voting to begin on or about Sept 22, 2019. PLEASE LOOK FOR A SPECIFIC VOTING EMAIL THIS WEEK! PLEASE NOTE THAT ONLY FULL ASSOCIATION MEMBERS ARE ELIGIBLE TO CAST A VOTE. (However, since we have so much activity at the FB site, I will have info posted there too so eligible voters may see this call in both places).

To the Membership at Large:

As I work to close out my tenure, let me state it has been my honor to serve as your Commodore. We have faced many challenges and also realized great successes along the way. We will continue to have on going destinations and course corrections ahead I’m sure. I have the utmost confidence that Leslie Troyer will do a fantastic job! See more about him below.

Among our past highlights: the creation of a new website look/function and an adjunct place to meet and share with others: our fantastic Facebook Website. At last count, it reached 754 members and climbing. While these are indeed examples of past successes, they are equally a part of continued challenges as the Association and its Members evolve. I URGE everyone of you to please stay involved and active and to give back when you can. This will greatly assist the in-coming Commodore, but most of all it will keep the Association alive and well in the future.

PLEASE consider volunteering, as we also are seeking a Vice Commodore and Website officer. More on this in the near future, once we complete this election.

Introduction of Leslie Troyer:

Leslie Troyer has been sailing since grade school, El Toro’s, International 14’s and his dad’s
Santana 27 . Leslie worked charter and commercial salmon fishing boats for 4 years. His first
Catalina was a 1983 Catalina 22 pop-top, purchased off the floor of the Seattle Boat Show.

Leslie met his bride of 33 years while sailing his C22 on the Snake River, and they honeymooned

in a 39’ Moorings Bare Boat Charter in the BVI’s. He purchased his current boat Mahalo, a
1983 Catalina 36 MK1 hull #94, in April of 2016 and is currently sailing out of Everett
Washington.

Leslie retired from the Boeing Company after twenty years as an IT Engineer. He is
having fun cruising the Pacific Northwest Islands.

For the past two and a half years Leslie has been very active and supportive of our International Association serving as the Pre-MK2 C36 Tech Editor – helping many both with online help on web & Facebook as well as writing a quarterly column in the Mainsheet magazine.

Fair winds and with gratitude,
Laura Olsen
Commodore

Great choice!
Had the pleasure of meeting Les at last year's Annapolis show (where I also met Laura a few years back), and can report that not only has he served us all well as the Mkl tech-meister, but has a great sense of humor -- certainly a helpful quality.
Laura, thanks so much for helping the C36IA these years!
