Fuel Vent Line Blue Canister?

Hi guys and gals. I just recently purchased a 95 Catalina 36mkii and have been lurking here on the forum for the past few months. You guys are obviously a wealth of information. As I continue to explore my new boat and learn as I go, I came across something today I'm not sure about. In the aft port lazerette I found what I believe is the fuel vent hose that leads to the vent on the rear transom. I noticed a blue canister plumbed in the vent hose, (See attached photo). I don't show any mention of the canister in my manual. Can someone tell me what the canister is and its purpose? I also noticed tbe hose leading from the canister to presumably the fuel tank is leaking and needs to be replaced. If anyone know how many feet of hose I need for that run, please let me know. Otherwise I'll just remove it and then head to tbe store to match it up. Thanks! Joe SV Makara 95 Catalina 36MKii Hull #1401

Congrats on the new boat and welcome to the Catalina family.  And - thanks for reminding me that I need to install one of those on my boat.  Marinas and fuel docks really don't like overflow and I always have to fuel very carefully to prevent it.
Unfortunately I can't help with the hose length either.  I would have to remove and measure as well.
