My new thermostat is operating between 185 and 200 degrees. My m25 Universal engine manual says 175 to 190 is the correct temp range. Should I shop around for a new thermostat or am I OK ?

I mentioned this before, but I don't know the heat conditions in California. In the gulf of Mexico off Florida the summer Gulf temperature is as hot as 20 degrees hotter than the winter water temperature causing our engine to run about ten degrees or so hotter.

My two cents: Step one make sure your gage is correct. I always double check with a known good gage.
I spent a ton of time and money once thinking I had a heat problem, when it was the gage 10 degrees high.

Hi Chuck,
correct. I checked with a laser temp gun. Thermostat housing was 15 degrees cooler.
