New owner in Long Beach, CA

We just became the proud owners of a 1991 Cataina 36 (hull 1123) and would like to reach out to some experienced members in the area for some advice on getting the old/existing issues sorted out.
I am especially interested in tackling the elctrical wiring, from what I have read it's high on the list of improvements but it's a little beyond my comfort level right now.

Welcome plot maker  first thing I would recommend is looking at the must do upgrades. Some you may not have to due because of motor type or factory did it for you.  For my Mk1. I needed to do alternator bracket and trailer plug harness. The po already did the glow plug relay

PilotMaker - I agree with Les.  I would start under the "members/important notices" (available to paid members only) to make sure you have no pending disasters.  The Alternator bracket and engine wiring harness items should be very high on the list.  I did the harness 4 years ago and it was a melted mess.  The upgrade wasn't to bad and really gave me some peace of mind.  The alternator bracket on some boats has also created severe problems  - fortunately mine was ok.
There is a great electrical panel upgrade thread going on right now that would be nice too. Always something to do on a boat.
Welcome to the site and the C36 organization.

Sorry was in a rush to get to an appointment

do read the tech info here it is a great resource. Stu Jackson runs a great site for Catalina 34's. Lots of good info there on common systems ( motors, ..).  C34.org.

Also Maine Sail has great electrical info at MatineHowTo.com .  (Previous C36 owner iirc)

Again welcome.

Les, Harold, thanks for the replies.
It's all a little overwhelming at first but I am digging through the great resources here and I am taking it one bit at a time.

I had a leaking (Sherwood) waterpump and that's now a shiny new Oberdorfer, that was step one to be able to just run the engine.

I just had the chance to check out the website Ludovic, looks great!

A lot of active owners out there, it's pretty amazing to see.
