Hello all -
I need to change my Racor primary fuel filter, but being new to this boat I thought I would ask a basic question first. I am not sure if the fuel tank is lower than the engine and I do not see a fuel shutoff valve anywhere (but such things can be difficult to locate!). I am envisioning unscrewing the filter assembly and having the entire contents of my now-full diesel tank empty into the bilge. Is there a shutoff valve somewhere? Will the downstream fuel lines also drain out when I remove the filter? Just trying to understand what kind of a mess I will have to prepare for!
Thanks!

There's has be a shut-off... look on the top of the tank where the fuel output line comes out. On the MkII, its under the floorboard in the port cockpit locker. The lines going out of the filter should not drain out

Fuel shut off valve is located inside the port lazzarette. You have to remove the cover to see it.
If you do not shut off the fuel you will loose all the fuel from the tank.

About Sail La Vie
I have a 1990 MkI and the fuel shut off is on top of tank and the tank is located in front of the galley sink. I do not have to shut off to change the engine fuel filter as the tank is below the engine. If the tank is full I have to turn off to change the racor filter

Thanks everyone. I will check in the lazarette again. I know that my tank is under the port lazarette. I'm so glad I decided to ask the question!
