Battery box removal

I didn't want to hijack the thread on upgrading to 6v GC batteries so will ask the question here. How did others remove the FG boxes for modification to fit the 6v batteries? On my 93 they are both firmly attached  but with no visible fasteners, I'm thinking they were bedded with a strong adhesive, 5200 maybe? I'm concerned I'd have to destroy them or the shelf underneath to remove. Anyone able to shed some light on this.

Thanks

Gary

On my 1987 I was able to pry out the battery box, more like a tray with sides. There is a thread on the website to put 4 6v wet cells in there under the card table seat. You need to cut out a bit of the wood slat support to get the last one in, but it works. I have 460 Ass kicking amps and love it!

Gary, look at the next thread on golf cart batteries. It shows the "tray" they cut in half to accomodate the 4 batteries. I built a plywood support and epoxied it. Used 5200 to mount it.

Gary,
I believe you will find they are just being held by adhesive. I pulled my tray out with a good yank. Some scraped skin and fell on my backside. Suggest you heat up a bit with a lamp or heat gun may go better.

This is a Gary parade...Yes, Gary B is correct on the adhesive bit. I was just testing my bilge pump at home, and needed something to hold water while I sit the pump in there. Looking around the garage I saw my old battery tray. On the bottom side were two thick areas of adhesive, that really weren't holding well anymore. Go for at with a good pull.

They must have made a change sometime after the mid-90's because my 1999 had two screws in the bottom of each tray that were holding it in place...

Interesting... Two trays, and where did the screws go. Any screws mine could have had would be into the hull. (very brave) We have all seen the 5200 or whatever in 1987 didn't hold, so some better attachment was necessary. I braced my epoxied plywood vertically to the support of the seat
