Retro fridge units

hello all,

already sick of the ice hauling so we are looking into putting a fridge unit in our cooler chest. Any recommendations for cheap but reliable unit? How is the dometic? Thanks for any input. We will be DYI so we need to keep the cost down...thanks for any info

We just replaced the OEM fridge condenser and evaporator with a seafront cold plate (12 by 20 inches) . The unit works great and seems to be sturdy. Seafrost was very helpful on the recommended size and customization of the cooling lines so as to avoid condensation from excess copper cooling lines. There are a few threads on this website reviewing conversion of mkI ice box to a fridge very helpful- including a post using seafront custom sized unit to create a freezer and fridge within the unit.

Go frigoboat keel cooled two reasons:
1. Draws 40% less power
2. Can't be installed ANYWHERE on boat no air cooled so can be buried in u accessible places.

we sell them at Mack Rigging can get you a quite.
