I want to change the location of my instrument panel to the coaming in the cockpit. Catalina Direct sells two version of the new housing "angled" or "straight" anyone know what works best on the MK1? Any other suggestions for the change appreciated.

I think the answer would ly in where you are going to reposition it. The angled is what I have on my MKl. My panel is located near the helm Port side and an angle is prevalent in the coming which the angled version would fit. Not sure all MKl are same across the board?
Attached is a picture and it is not easy to see but there is a slight angle as shown on the picture @ Catalina Direct it starts approximately at the centerline of the coming box.

Thanks for the photo. I will look at the Catalina Direct site and check out where that angle is. You have a newer hull than ours.

hi alex, i'm in the middle of this prodject right now. my boat (1984 catalina 36) has the angled coaming. so thats what i bought. that being said, just cutting a hole and dropping the box in is not that simple. i had to do some modification to the box as well as the coaming to get the box to fit properly. i also epoxied the box in place not only to guarantee water tightness but to give the giant hole some support. i haven't started the wiring part yet but it seems pretty straight forward, i hope. if you have questions you can send me a private message through this website. good luck.
