I'm replacing the plate damper, so at the same time I'd like to replace the cutlass bearing. I have a SeaHawk Autostream prop which I really do not want to remove completely. It is fairly simple to take the blade assembly off, leaving a hub about three inches in diameter. My question is whether there is enough clearance bewteen shaft and rudder on removal to sneak this 3 inch hub by? Anyone ever had a crack at this type of propeller?

Kevin,
The simple answer is NO. In order to remove the prop shaft (without removing the rudder), the cutless bearing and the prop both have to be taken off. When that is done, the shaft will JUST BARELY get by the rudder. You might even want to put a thin sheet of mylar or similar between the rudder and the shaft so you don't scratch the paint on the rudder. It's that tight of a fit. Sorry.
