Why do C36's lean to port???

Seems my 1986 C36 has a tendency to lean a few inches to port. I suppose since the galley with frig, stove, sink, galley supplies and utensils, most of the diesel fuel tank, the waste tank, hot water heater, one fresh water tank, head are on port side,  and the starboard side has only the batteries and one fresh water tank...  It's no wonder! You Catalina designers what were you thinking?

It will take approximately 250-300 lbs to offset the list. I used 4 6 volt batteries about 64# each and it did the trick.

As Gary, I added batteries to the stbd side. A third house battery and a starting battery balanced Julandra for me.

I tried moving every heavy thing to the starboard side, with only modest success correcting our slight list to Port.   One day I looked carefully (when Wind Star was on the hard stand) and I noticed the keel is bent slightly to Port.   I think our canting keel helps us point better on Port tack as well!

Photo is not the best, but you can see it...

It is by design.  When Frank Butler was designing the boat he surveyed C36 owners and they all seemed to list to starboard so he made the boat list to port to give them a better view.

C36MkII has no apparent list to port or starboard.
Every C320 lists to port ... even with 2 monster size lead acid batteries stored under the starboard seats !

Yup mine lists to port as well.  I measured it from the toerail to the water mid-ship and came up with
about 1 1/2" difference.

My MkII also has a slight list to port - boot stripe touching on port-side and about 1/2 to 3/4 inch clear on stbd....

Actually on my '86 the 2nd water fill Deck plate is on the port side but the water tank itself sits on the centerline over the prop area.
