red bulbs in cabin

Hi has any one ever painted your cabin bulbs  red for night. what did you use or can you buy them I tried at the local auto store but no luck

Our cabin has halogen lights. I'm pretty sure if they were painted, they would burn the paint. Even the old #1157 automotive tail lamp bulbs get very hot. I would suggest going to Auto Zone an looking for red LED bulbs that fit your socket

hi thanks I tried pep boy and they couldn't match bulb with halogen I will try another auto store.

I put one of these:

in one of the "brass bell" reading lamps. No heat. No paint. Long life. Low current draw. 
Excellent night light or for underway.
