New Dodger

.

OK, so I replaced all the lifelines and associated hardware. Look all nice and shiny.

Next was to commission the building of a new dodger/windscreen. The old unit was original to the 1999 boat and was done I think.

So below you see the new dodger. Single wide pane front window. Good visibility. He has made a full cover for the whole unit.

Makes for a clean looking boat, me thinks!

He did a very nice job Rick. If you're happy with it you should probably give him a plug and name him, in case someone else in the Bay Area is looking for canvas work.

Getting the height right on a dodger is very important.
We set ours so I can see over the top of it and my wife can see under it. But a mate has lots of troubles, because his line of sight is with the top of the dodger, so its either stand on his toes, or bend down and look through the clears.

This is something that people looking for dodgers need to consider.

Looks great.

Gorgeous! The new glass looks really nice and clear. My dodger is in pretty good shape but the glass is done.

How do you open it up to let a breeze through on a hot day?

Hey, we live in California, so the weather is always nice (no insects either :-)

No reason to "open it up" to let the breeze through.

The old dodger had that feature, and I never used it. Zippers froze too...

The Canvas Guy is Ramon Guiterrez, 510-677-1303 ($1500 for the dodger!).

Again, located in the south SF Bay area.

Happy sailing!
