Charging/Battery Issue

We have 4 T105+ house batteries that are about 3 years old. Recently I noticed that the Link showed them floating at 13 volts, instead of the 13.3 volts they are normally at. A check with the multimeter showed 13.3 volts. I checked the specific gravity and all cells were at 1.275, except 2 cells were at 1.26. I contacted Trojan and was told that those readings were fine. It was then suggested that I clean up the connections for the Link. I have a Xantrex TC40+ charger as well. Trojan also suggested doing a 2 hour equalization on the batteries. I do plan on contacting Xantrex to see if there is a testing procedure on the charger but it is only 5 years old. Any ideas or suggestions?

Good job checking things out, David. If you trust your multimeter, and assuming nothing changed with the charger, it makes sense that the Link monitor is simply not reporting the correct voltage.

Definitely start with the connections to the Link.

David, not much good to say recently about Xantrex products.

Could well be the charger.

13.2 volts is nominal for lead-acid. The specific gravity is fine. Your multimeter is fine. Your charger is fine. Your batteries are fine. Your connections to your battery monitor are likely just offering more resistance than normal and therefore giving you a low reading. I agree with Trojan, try cleaning these connections.

To conclude this thread, I did clean the contacts on the Link's shunt and it appears all is well. When out, I regularly check the battery status on the Link. Now, once again, I can rely on the accuracy of the reading. Thanks for your responses.
