connecting forward water tank to head

I learned early on that it really helps to reduce foul odors in the head if you use fresh water rather than seawater to flush. We have been using the extendable faucet (shower) to fill the bowl for flushing but I'd like to set it up so that I can use the forward water tank. We never use the sea water intake hose so I assume that I can simply keep that thru hull closed, cut the hose and plug it then connect the forward tank supply hose to the intake hose for the head. Is is really that simple?

I have never had the need to use the forward tank and therefore never filled it because I didn't want the added weight in the bow ... if I connect it to the head intake line I'd probably only fill it half way I.e. 15 gallons, which should last a couple of weekends without any problem.

Your thoughts?

Don,

Your plan should work fine, but just in case you or the next owner ever wants to use that bow tank, consider putting a "loop" in your water line.

Run the fresh water line from the bow water tank, into the medicine cabinet, top shelf! Loop the water line in a complete 360 degree coil and then go to the toilet water intake.

This loop, placed high above the toilet, will keep "stuff" from getting into the tank while still allowing you to use the fresh water to flush.

Consider adding a little bleach (couple cap fulls) to the tank each season. Just to keep the tank ready for possible drinkable use.

I use the sprayer to flush the toilet also, but I cruise in fresh water. The sprayer is just an easier way to rinse the bowl and minimize my flush water use.

My wife and I can go 9 days on our main waste tank, then 4 more on the backup tank.

Good Luck

Don, WADR, you should follow my suggestion.

If you have ANY connection between the fresh water tank and the head, you have the possibility of contamination. The loop means absolutely NOTHING.

If you're gonna do this idea, then disconnect the forward water tank from the manifold.

Good luck.
