Butyl tape for bedding hatches?

I've been using the butyl tape I got from MaineSail and his instructions to re-bed deck hardware for a couple of years now, and it's great!

I'm now faced with installing a replacement Lewmar Low Profile trapezoidal hatch over the v-berth of our (new to us) C36. Would you recommend that I use the 1/2" butyl tape for this job, or something else?

Thanks in advance,

Joe :)

Joe, I just rebedded our Bomar saloon hatch with butyl tape from Maine Sail. I had to use two thicknesses to get it to seal. Great stuff.

+1 for the butyl tape. I still have a small leak between the gasket and the frame, but the frame is successfully sealed to the deck now.
