My 1990 25xp motor has no oil pressure alarm(that i know of)....I just bought(from Cata Direct)the high temp alarm sensor and alarm "horn" which i am preparing to install but since this is a 2 tone alarm, one for temp, the other for oil,i am wondering where the oil sensor might be on this engine(if it has one) Anybody know?

Mine is on the back side of the engine inboard of the exhaust manifold threaded into the block.

Grieg,
I did not have a temp alarm when I purchased my boat, a failed water heater hose cost me an engine. Diesels generate a lot of heat quickly if not cooled.
I did install the temp alarm after rebiulding my engine, a word of caution, I had assumed that the temp probe would have been preset to a fixed temp to trigger the alarm. I found that it is adjustable and yours may need to be adjusted after installation.

I asked the catalina direct tech guy how i could test it and what the preset temp was...he didnt know. The little sensor doesnt look adjustable..like a little spark plug.I dont know how to test it,its installed now anyway..maybe boil it till voltage runs thru it?I had a bad scare with weeds in my strainer this summer,i just happened to look down at the temp gauge in time to see 190!!I dont want to repeat that experience.
