Oil Light Stays On - Troubleshoot?

Hi all,
now that I know what that red light is on my NavPod, I need to find out why it is staying on. The engine (25XP) runs fine and has oil. There are no indications of any problems other than the oil light staying on. I will check the connection at the sender when I get to the boat. Is there anything else I should be checking?

Thanks, Bill

Normally - if the oil light comes on then the soanalert should be sounding also according to the diagram. Do you hear the soanalert when when you turn the ignition key and when the engine is not running and does the light come on? The soanalert should make intermittent or pulsing sound. I have the full diagram that I can send you that will help you

The sonaalert aounds when they key is turned on, but stops when the engine is started. I've honestly never noticed the red light.

Thanks, Bill

If it is the oil light you should also be getting an alarm warning. It is not uncommon for the oil sender switch on the engine to fail and this should be checked/replaced first.

Thanks John, I have a new switch in hand and will give it a try tomorrow.
