Storage Space Management

Anyone have any ideas for the dry storage space left of the galley sink? Some way to better organize and take advantage of the vertical space. I just have crap piled in there with no rhyme or reason.

Jess,
Possibly put in a set of rails, and a clear plastic sliding shelf. Check out picture #15 at this link:

Hope this helps.

Tom - what i wouldn't give to have you in my town for a few days. I could learn a ton from you and I am confident my boat would be very happy...

Jess11sr,

Please take a moment to create an automated signature. While we welcome you to the forum, if we knew more about you and your boat we could help you better. Do you have a Mk I or II? What hull #? What engine? What's your name and your boat's name, so we can address you properly? Tall rig or standard rig? Fin keel or shoal keel? Where you base your boat?

It's easy to do. Just click on UserCP in the blue bar at the top left of this page and follow the prompts. Use my signature below as a model for the kind of info to include.

Again, welcome. You've found a great support resource for your boat.

Thanks.

Tom,

Do you remember how you fastened the rails to the inside of the locker?

Thanks

Jack,
LOL! I'll try to remember that the next time I'm cruising down east!

Nick,
The dry bin is made of fiberglass, maybe 3/16" thick. I simply used self-tapping SS screws into the sides. I was originally concerned that the sharp points might catch on something, but I can hardly see the ends of the screws, let alone catch anything on them. I probably also used a small dab of LifeSeal in each of the holes when installing.

I put rails in and built a wood shelf. the shelf is about half the width of the locker so it can slide from side to side for full access, and the rails are mounted just high enough that the shelf clears a typical rum or wine bottle when upright.

Shelf also has about a 1.5" tall fiddle on both ends to keep stuff on it. Usually we end up with bread living on the shelf and heavy stuff (cans, liquids, muffin mix etc) underneath.
