My idling RPMs appear high this season. I say appears because I know tachs can be off calibration but I have had the boat long enough to know the RPMs are up by the feel. I'm purchasing a laser non-contact RPM meter but would like to know if someone can give some guidance as to how to adjust idle RPMs. Boat is a 1996 with a Model 35A engine. Thanks for the help.

If memory serves, where the cable is fixed to the injector pump there is a stop screw that limits the travel when you pull the throttle back. You adjust it with that screw.
Roger, can you share with us where you sail? You might want to consider adding a signature block to your postings. It's always intersting to hear where the sailing waters are that our members are sailing.

Sounds like some detective work is in order.... unless the motor was worked on, the idle should not change over the winter. Is the cable still tight at the injector pump and in the pedestal? Does the throttle lever go all the way to the stop screw? Check the basics before you start adjusting things.
