Hi all.
I have decided to take up racing this fall but an being hampered by the requirement for some sail info. The boat needs a PHRF rating to join in but to get that I need to (take the sails down, take a bunch of measurements, ...) complete a form and submit. While I will take the sails down if I have to, I am looking for an easy way around this.
Ventana is a 1999 c36 mkII tall rig with a 135 Genny and a standard main. Hull # 1776. These sails are stock from purchase.
For these sails, here is what I need:
Genny: the LP and the LLJ
Main: HB, MGU and MGM
I have all of the other measurements.
Has anyone gone through this and do you have these numbers and could you could share with me.
Many thx.

US Sailing has a base rating book that your club's cheif handicaper should have. It won't have the measurements but it will provide all reported base ratings forthe boat.
I have not taken measurments since our club goes off of the rating book.
Catalina may be able to provide that measurement to you since they built the sails.

Great idea to use US Sailing handicaps, but won't work for me. I need the measurements. I will try Catalina next. Thx for your comments.

I also had to do this for my 2005 MKII. PHRF gave me a 6 second pentality for not doing this. I then send in the corrected measurments and the didn't even bother to reply.
I had a north spi from my old boat ant they were very good about sending me the measurments also Catalina sent me the measurments for my main and jib. Had to ask twice. but they were very good to do this.

Update: My phrf bc rating is down to 158 now, I have gone to a code 5 mainsail (so 'standard' size, and a code 4 jib (still one size down from a full 150%) and still running the code 7 spinnaker (similar to a J35 spinnaker). This fall/winter we have routinely sailed around the race course faster than the J/30, Sceptre 36, and Dehler DB1 in our fleet, not that these have been the best-sailed boats on the course, but I take it as a good sign!

Jeff,
I've not heard of separate ratings for racing and cruising...please explain the how the two ratings are established.
I've started a local Thursday evening racing group with a wide range of boats and "appropriate ratings" are always in friendly debate.

The difference between Non-Spinnaker and the Cruising Class is mainly equipment allowences. Cruising class boats get additional time for cruising equipment like outboad motors hanging on the stern pulpet, A/C, bimini top two anchors, chain rode, all dacron sails, etc. The allowences differ by different rating organizations so you would have to check with your local PHRF Association to find out what equipment they allow for the extra equipment.
The racing is just as exciting in both classes.

Im sorry I should have worded it differenty. What I meant was Non-spinnaker and spinnaker class.
As for all the options list for cruising class I have never seen any of that in the NE PHRF forms
under the recreational handicap it requires above deck roller furler no KEVLAR/SPECTRA sails, but Polyester/Mylar OK in working sails.
Sorry about confusion
