tranny oil leel

I am replacing the oil in my transmission. (The engine is the Universal M35B.) I'm not sure how the little "dip stick" works. There's a groove/ring about a quarter or half inch up from the bottom of the stick. Is that the "full" level? (I'm trying to attach a photo to show it.)

Yes, that ring / groove is the "full" mark. You test the level of fluid by just resting the "dip stick" in the hole...(don't screw it down and test). Hope this helps.

Actually, I can't really see the level on the dipstick, so what I do is use a little wood coffee stirer and hold it at the same length. Thanks for the info. though.

I have the same problem. When I pull it I have a paper towel folded in 4 in my hand, I just lay the grooved end of the dipstick on it, the fluid transfers immediately to the paper towel and I can see the level easily.
