We are new boat owners and are loving our C36. We are trying to find a piece that we feel is missing from our dining table in the main salon. We have the silver pole but it is very unstable. I have some photos of the boat taken before we purchased it that shows a gray piece that is at the base of the pole that appears to make it sit tight in the table base secured to the floor of the boat. We have looked all over the boat and can't find the missing item. The photo I have does not show this area very well, does anyone know what I can do to fix my table or what part I might need?

Sorry I'm not on the boat right now to look, but are you perhaps talking about the round knob on the post which tightens up the table?

More info needed, it sounds like someone removed the normal table mount and used just a post to mount the table? I could understand that as they may of wanted to quickly remove and stow the table to open up the seating area. Or they could not afford to replace the standard support.
The stock part does have a grey base that bolts to to the floor and stabilizes the support. It also incorporates a gas cylinder so you can loosen the knob that locks it and push the table down to the berth position, to bring it back up you loosen the knob again and the table pops back up.
I am sure Catalina can supply a new gas strut and associated mounting hardware.

I have a similar problem with my salon table. The table is configured in such a way that the top does not attach to the stand or base at the center of the table top--it's way off center. Because it doesn't sit squarely over the base, the top is quite unstable and wobbly. Everyone who has looked at it says I have to get a new table. My fear is that it's just a poor design and replacing it with the same design will produce the same result. Is this similar to your problem? Any solutions or suggestions from others with the same experience. My boat is a 2001 Mark II.
check with taco metals, they won't sell to consumers but they do have the stand that will raise and lower. defender.com can order the piece for you but it is pricey.

Speaking of salon tables, I was looking through the latest copy of Sailing magazine at a review of the new Catlina 445. I was pleased to note by the pictures that this new boat has a C36 MKI main salon. The layout looks to be identical with the only noted difference being a much wider isleway for and aft between the main table and the game table and chart table. The backsplash on the sink is now glass rather than teak, I question the safety aspect of glass there but , we must copy Hunter and Beneteau.
The table design I do like and if it is the same dimension as our MkI boats this could make a nice upgrade, being able to fold in the corners to make it cocktail size would certainly enhance ingress and egress to the seating.
I tried to call Catalina to get info on this table but, the Woodland facility parts department was closed today and I could not reach anyone at the Florida facility.
