I'm trying to get my tool kit set up and the boat is 400 miles away. My 2004 Jeep uses both metric and SAE tools. What about a 2001 Catalina 36 MKII. Do I need both?

Inevitably, yes.
Universal engine (which is a marinized Kubota engine) is metric. Most hardware fittings on the boat are SAE. Of course, one can fudge a bit here and there (14mm for 9/16", 13mm for 1/2", 11mm for 7/16"), but since one inevitably loses some over the side in tribute to Neptune, that redundancy never hurts.

Thanks, I assumed that was the case. Just wanted to confirm.
