Hi, I'm hoping someone here can answer a quick, simple question that google has been entirely unhelpful in answering:
What size of wire (diameter, not length) is normally used on the shrouds (upper & lower - are they different?) of a Catalina 36?
If anyone can answer that, it would be really, really helpful.
I don't own a C-36, and somewhat surprisingly there isn't one at my marina, so I cannot just "go measure one."
What I'm trying to determine is if I can use the mast tangs from a Catalina 36 on a completely different rig. The bolt hole and clevis pin hole sizes are an exact match. The prices from catalina direct are *by far* the best I can find.
Before I order them, I just want to verify that they are built to handle the same loads as I need - and my thought is that in addition to the bolt/pin diameters matching, checking the wire diameter they were designed for is probably the best way to gauge that.
Thanks for any help y'all can provide!
According to the Mark I owners manual the uppers are 5/16" and the lowers are 1/4".
