I have research using a material called Starboard to fabricate 2 sternperch seats. I plan on using 1/2 thick Starboard and hinging them on the outboard rails so they can be swung up to allow opening of the stern lazaret. Anyone have any information/recommendations I need to be aware of before I start ?

We designed ours (made of starboard) so that the support legs angle over to the cockpit combing. With this design, there's no need to "hinge" them at all; there is sufficient clearance that lazerette opens fully with the sternperch seats in place, and the seats have ample support. See attached picture (and disregard the crew of grandchildren in command of our ship).
Although our setup includes quick releases if the seats need to be removed, in practice we never have found a need to.
