DIY lazy jacks

I just installed lazy jacks, using several online plans.  The hardest & most expensive part is/was estimating the length of double braid line.  I went with a plan for a 40' boat (thinking that would be close).  It called for 300' of line (interesting, 300' is when you get the 15% price break at Westmarine)

Turns out, I only needed HALF that much line.

Be careful.  Not much use for 150' of left-over 1/4 inch line on board.

I'm getting ready to do the same.  Do you have a link to the plan you ended up using, assuming you still think it's a good plan?

This was the most helpful, though I didn't need anywhere near 300'.

This picture of a slightly different configuration was also helpful.

You can really do it without all that hardware. Ex. Rather than adding more eye straps under the  boom. I just looped the line through two of the bales (and one unused, existing eye strap).  And I have both "downhaul" adjustment lines from the spreaders together on one unused cleat already on the mast.
Lastly, I didn't want to drill holes in the spreaders yet, so I used a loop of vinyl coated cable to "Hang" the blocks from the spreaders.  This way I can experiment with their distance from the mast.  But it seems to work well enough, I may just leave it that way.
