What is with this SPAM that is infiltrating our Web Site?? Just when the site appears to be working better, we are now faced with SPAM everyday? Who approved these unwarranted posts?

Hello,
As you know we recently opened the forums up to all registered users, not just paid Members of the Association. In order to register as a user, one has to provide address info and so on, even what kind of boat from a drop-down list (that includes 'none' and 'other'), and then confirm the account creation through a one-time link sent via email. So I am fairly sure these accounts are being created by real live humans, who then go on to post in the forum.
No one "approves" these posts.
For all the outrage over making the forums open to all registered users, it looks like 95% of the posts from non-Members are from spammers. So there you go.
Deleting them and their posts is one of my daily chores now.

I have similar issues on other sites. One solution is to make a few others moderators. They can move or delete the posts as they appear. Share the work around.
